Great Drum Foundation produces concerts and distributes audio and video recordings of these performances. Our purpose is to bring people together by sharing an experience that transcends conceptual differences.

Our yearly activities are comprised of the development, marketing, production, presentation, documentation and product dissemination of three programs:

1. Our main program that culminates in a concert presentation at a leading outdoor venue featuring six master musicians from different spiritual traditions brought together expressly for this series of events.

2. Our support-building activities that culminate in media-awareness/fundraising events including performances by local master musicians from different spiritual traditions brought together expressly for these purposes.

3. Our grass-roots that are planted in an ongoing series of once-a-week performance/workshops called "Sound Revelation!" that provides a meeting ground for local musicians of many cultures to come together and explore the world's traditions of spiritual music.

Our main program is comprised of a four day series of events. The first three days will be spent in a rehearsal workshop setting that is also attended by ten apprentice musicians who have been selected from applications that are the result of our preceding public/media awareness campaign. They observe the proceedings and have opportunities to interact with the artists. At the end of this process, they prepare a report of their experiences and observations with special emphasis on their view of how this work can beused to maximum benefit.

Subsequently, we publish these reports, along with comments from the artists themselves, on our website and as a printed publication for distribution. We encourage opportunities for these apprentices to share their experiences with their community through speaking and other forms of community interaction. On the fourth day, we present a short matinee performance/sound check open to the public followed by a question and answer period and then followed by a short press/media conference. That evening, we present our main concert.

All of these activities are recorded on high-resolution digital audio equipment and to broadcast quality video. From these recordings, we produce both a performance piece as well as a documentary. These publications are offered on CD and DVD/VHS as instruments of public/media awareness and as products for sale to support our growth. This is supported by a distribution and marketing/awareness campaign that focuses on the ideals represented in our work.
